🌍Geography at Ryton-on-Dunsmore
The Geography curriculum at Ryton‑on‑Dunsmore CE Academy ensures that all children leave our school well‑equipped with secure geographical knowledge about places, people, resources, and natural and human environments - both within Britain and across the wider world. Through carefully sequenced learning, pupils develop a deepening understanding of the Earth’s physical and human processes, the interactions between them, and the ways in which our world has changed over time.
Our PKC Geography curriculum is deliberately knowledge‑rich. The knowledge pupils gain is clearly specified, coherently ordered and designed to build progressively over time. As children move through the curriculum, they know more and understand more about the world around them.
Strong geographical understanding relies on firm foundations of both knowledge and skills. The skills developed through our curriculum - like the knowledge - are explicitly defined, logically sequenced and structured to progress year on year. This thoughtful curriculum design enables pupils to deepen their understanding of physical and human geographical processes, while fostering curiosity, fascination and a lifelong interest in the world we live in.
